Intro :

I am going to talk about the place and forms of power .

First of all, I would like to give a definition of this notion : so it's the capacity to act, to achieve an objective or to abtain a desired effect.

In order to illustrate it, I have chosen to talk about photography and I will try to answer the next question : in what way is photography a memorial power but also an informative power ?

To answer this question I going to show you that it capture the time and then inform society .

I. It capture the time :

First of all, the first document i choose to illustrate this first part is a book excerpt from sweet caress by william boyd in 2015 . Indeed, the author draws our attention to the fact that photography captures time. Trough this document, we undersand that he approves photography since it allows to freeze time and so to remember memories. Then, this book excerpt perfectly illustrate the place and forms of power because it shows that photography is a power to capture the time and that it is important to remember the good time spent in our life through photography or a photography of a deceased person that we loved very munch allows also to stop time, to remember good memories, wherease if the photography would not exist, we would tend over time to forget.

II.inform society

for the second part, through the article from the Daily Mail by Damien gayle in 2014 , the author we understand that photography informs society. Endeed, according to him, it allows to attract the curiosity of the spectator by the mysterious of a landscape for example. And will therefore inform the vieuver of a landsape that , may be, ignore its existence. It is an interesting illustration of this notion because it shows how photography has changed our world. In parallel, thanks to the famous photography of Nick Ut in 1972 , he denounces the horror of the vietnam war. he wants to make people react and also wants to inform them of this cruelty because the photography tell the truth contrary to the word , it shows the war as is it.

conclusion :

to conclude , photography has a power of memory since it stops the time. Then, photography can also inform society by marveling or revolting people …

however there are other types of power. Finally, photography can also illustrate the notion « the idea of progress » because it has evolved a lot and has became indispensable.
