How did women fight for their right? Are they respected in field ?

The theme that we are going to present is "women rights". Even in developed countries such as the United States, gender equality is not fully respected. Even though more and more women are going to the university, they still earn less than men and are less likely to have significant responsibilities, such as becoming president or CEO or simply becoming senior executives in a company. We see very few players on television and actresses should be young and beautiful to succeed at the top. The notion that corresponds to this theme is "the idea of progress".

So now we can ask, how did women fight for their right? Are they respected in field?

In the first place, we’ll see the power of women before with the conquest of power from them and secondly if it works today and if men and women are equal in all spheres of life.

I/ Women rights before

Before, women were seen as inferior to men, for example, in the Victorian Britain, men and women were considered almost as different creatures. Men were seen as the rational sex at home, in the public and politic life. Women were seen as less rational, more emotional and better suited to the joys of domesticity. Women always stayed at home, cooked, cared children and were always been dominate from their husbands without having the word to say. In this context, it was extremely difficult for women to react against morality and laws which discriminated them. With the text call « wonder women », we saw that a movement calls « suffragette » which begun in 1872 was a way for women to exposed the gender problem, with violence, and hope to have the right to vote. After that, it was difficult but they get this right. Now, we are going to see if women have more things today and if they are more equal with men.

II/ Are men and women equal in all spheres of life?

Today we can say that men and women are not totally equal in all fields because, as we saw in a lot of documents, as in very developed country, there is many difference between sex. We saw that when there is the birth of a child, only the mother is stop to work, the father don’t stop to work every time. So men are favored when a boss search an employee because he is sure that the men we will stay, unlike the women who will stop working for her baby. For finish on this part, we can use the video document of Emma Watson (who is feminist) where it is explain that women need more rights and possibilities because today it’s not fully acquired. To conclude, over the years, women and men have fought for gender equality. Much progress has been made, but there is still a lot of work to be done. There are still many inequalities and the old mentalities continue to persist.
