Key questions – Idea of progress

Is Progress still positive ?

Why can Sophia represent a danger?

Will there be a technical limit to improvement?

Should there be a limit to progress? (Ethical / philosophical question)

What could people do badly with advanced technology?

What aspects of our society could change because of A.I?

Are humans mentally prepared for the future?

Can technology save or kill people?

Can robots become humans or will humans become robots?

How high is the probability for us to live with robots in the future?

Will there be enough energy to make our world work?

Can progress become a dangerous thing?

OR

To what extent can progress change our future since (=puisque) we have already reached a sophisticated level of technology?

This question can illustrate both the notion of « Idea of progress » and « sites and forms of power »: As a matter of fact, / indeed / actually, the development of progress is endless and we know we can still reach a higher level of technology (notion: I of P). And yet, this question can also help us to focus on the power of technology over our lives

What can one’s opinion be about progress?

  1. Definition of progress:

Progress can be all forms of invention or innovation

It can improve our daily life thanks to devices ( machines, things, objects)

  1. Progress can be technological, artistic, political or economic. So it can belong to different fields ( champ) or areas.
  2. One may be fascinated by progress although = bien que one can also feel concerned by the dangers it represents.

To answer the question today: What can one’s opinion be about progress?

 I’m going to explore different elements that we studied in class, such as a video about artificial intelligence inside a human-like robot called Sophia, an article about a prosthetic hand, and a link between 1984, by George Orwell and his “Big Brother” and Snapchat.

My layout is going to fall into two / three parts.
