Kulay Pag-asa, an Artistic Therapy Center which provides art therapy through hospital art to patients suffering from traumatic brain injury, memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease is now involving well-known painters in the country and the UP College of Fine Arts by donating their artworks that convey a happy mood which patients replicate. Seeing these happy moods and replicating and internalizing them make the patients better and better each day. (The Manila Times, 2007)

Art therapy has been also helpful in the heading of AFP’s wounded warriors. Robert and Polly Dunn Foundation sponsored the “paint fest” for the opportunity for the soldiers to heal themselves through art. Significant effects of the activity are noticeable in the response of the participants. Cpl. James Leonen said the painting “released” his mind from his present condition. Another injured soldier said that while he was concentrating in his painting, he forgot about his pain. Pfc. Erwin Enguito, who is waiting for a special procedure on his left leg, agreed. “I felt like I was contributing something while enjoying the task at the same time,” he said. Cabantog (2003), in her study, A Comparative Study on the Effects of Expressive Art Therapy and Inspirational Readings among College Students with Emotional Difficulties cited expressive art therapy as a tool in Psychotherapy that is used in treating a variety of adolescent problems. The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of expressive arts with group counseling, specifically, drawings and paintings in group counseling as an adjunct tool in counseling College of Liberal Arts students of San Sebastian College-Recoletos Cavite City with emotional difficulties as compared to the group of college students exposed to inspirational readings without group counseling.
