The document I will present is a video entitled “Cote d’Ivoire cocoa industry fears Ebola could threaten booming market » published in November 2014 by CCTV America.

The interview is presented by Clementine Logan of CCTV America from San Pedro in Cote d'Ivoire. Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia are just next to Cote d'Ivoire and they have been hit by the ebola viruse so neighbouring countries should feel concerned.

The video focuses on Cote d'Ivoire which is the world's largest cocoa producer and whom might be in danger due to its location next to Guinea and Liberia.

There might be a potential spread of the virus that could hit cocoa farmers.

We'll see  that :

• The cocoa market gets all the parties worried
• But some parties takes measures to prevent the disease to spread

Most of the parties around the globe are worried about the situation of the cocoa market, The virus killed around thousands people over the boarder and that makes people worry about it. We have the point of view of 2 people.

Atsi Lepierre, a cocoa's grower, have been interviewed by CCTV America and gives his point of view about the situation, he says:

• it is a serious disease
• they all worry about the situation
• government must help them workers and must take measures to protect the country

According to Gognimo Koney, who's the Cocoa Growers' Association President, the danger is very high as their growers are walking in the bush and the virus comes from wild animals. They are very worried beacause the virus could prevent them from doing their job.

40% of the world's beans come from Cote d'Ivoire so most of the people worry as the beans goes to San Pedro's Port in the Southwest and are wondering what might come in from this Port. This situation lead to ship cocoa at a faster pace.

1. But the parties are hopeful

Local growers trust the government thinking they take measures to put the danger away.

Some measureas have been taken. Indeed, Port authorities began monitoring incoming ships on October 2014 for ebola. Around 3,000 crews had been tested for symptoms but so far they were all negative.

Plideco President has been interviewed : He is optimist and thinks that with all the teams installed in different port/airports to prevent ebola, they won't have any cases of ebola in Cote d'Ivoire.

Moreover the Cocoa's council has already contribute to the equipment and supplies to the Ministry of Health to reinforce their capacity to protect cocoa producers and make sure that if a case appears, they would be able to react immediately so this won't spread.

The world's cocoa buyers will be careful and keep an eye on the case of Cote d'Ivoire,

To conclude, we could say that Cote d'Ivoire might be in a potential danger but the government try to take to best measures to protect the country and the market.

In several videos I watched about the cocoa's market about the ebola I had some more information about the impact of the disease on the market. I listened to Michaela Kuhl who was a commodities analyst interviewed by Dukascopy TV. She said that lately, due to ebola, the cocoa's market has rise prices. She answers to the question of a potential rise again of the price.
