I think that malls and shopping centers are good things because it first allows us to see and touchthe product, to have a real contact with what you are about to buy. The fact that qualified sellers are present and ready to help is a real plus for customers.

It also allows people to get whatever they want right in the moment (most of the time) and bring their product back enough quickly if there are any problems with it or other. I would say that the real advantage of the malls and shopping centers is the contact you can get. It’s clear, helpful and quick.

But there are not only advantages to those kinds of channels of distribution.

See, some people would rather stay home and be quiet to do shopping instead of going to the crowded and noisy mall. People don’t like to spend time going to the mall to do shopping among hundreds people. And we have got to admit that it’s not always the simplest thing to find what we are looking out for. I think the disadvantages of going to the mall are, the mass of people and the time spent for shopping, that is what people don’t like I guess.

I sure think about some other channels of distribution and outlets, as the Internet, the fastest, simplest and cheapest place to do shopping. Today more and more people start using the internet to do shopping, it would be like a tons of stores, with tons of promotions every time opened to everyone, everytime, and almost everywhere. No displacement, saving time and saving money. It’s all what people want today, but there still are disadvantages though.

We can also think about mail order through magazines…

2. What determines consumer confidence, and how important is it for economic recovery and growth ?

Each consumer is constantly looking out for the place that will give him what he wants. That place which will make him happy, where he will feel good.

The store has to adapt things to the needs of its customers and make it attractive.

If people are satisfied, they will for sure be coming back next. The thing is to attract the most people and then make them loyal to the store with a good service, good products etc. This strategy will give an insurance of growth, all along the time people will come and make other people come and begin loyal…

Then the economic recovery can begin and increase gradually.
