Exposé sur l’indice de démocratie 2023 en Argentine depuis l’arrivée au pouvoir de Javier Gerardo Milei en novembre dernier

Javier Gerardo Milei became president of Argentina on 19 november 2023. He has fifty three and he is first and foremost an economist. In 2016, he made a name for himself on television. He became popular and in 2021 founded the right-wing coalition La Libertad Avanza, which came third in the legislative elections. Javier Milei is elected deputy for Buenos Aires.

He triumphantly wins the presidential elections. He won 55,7 per cent of the vote. He has an extreme profile in politics with radical solutions. He is the best-elected president of Argentina since 1983. He comes in a context of economic and social crisis. This crisis helped him get elected because he presents himself as a populist, anarchist and libertarian.

During his campaign, he made radical proposals: cut public spending and therefore reduce the budget, replace the peso with the dollar and eliminate the central bank.

He does not propose any measures to combat of Global Warming. But on the health side, he is in favour of creating a market for organ donations. He is against abortion. He is not tolerant of left-wing politics. he wants to "cut up" the state. He is anti-system, climate sceptic and reactionary

Beyond his extremism, some are questioning his mental health, a biography has been published which shows that when he was a child, his friends called him crazy and the book shows that Milei talks to his dead dogs.
